The Joseff of Hollywood: Treasures from the Vault Collection, previously on display in Europe, is currently on display in Marietta thanks to Julien’s Auctions (Auction House to the Stars) of Los Angeles, CA., before returning to LA for its Auction Event slated for November 17-18, 2017.

The vault of iconic jewels from the jeweler to the stars, Joseff of Hollywood, is at the Marietta Gone With the Wind Museum, Scarlett on the Square in Georgia. But just until September 1, so if you plan to see this rare once-in-a-lifetime personal collection of the pieces, you should start planning now. The exhibition is from the Joseff of Hollywood jewelry collection and features pieces worn in “Gone With the Wind” as well as other films from the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Eugene Joseff, known to all as Joseff of Hollywood was the master jeweler to the stars during the Golden Age of Hollywood. Screen icons, costume designers and fashionistas sought out Joseff’s dazzling and unique costume jewelry to be worn in films and at special events Joseff’s works dazzled the red carpet, lit up the big screen and became signature pieces worn by a “Who’s Who” of Golden Hollywood. During the magical movie times of the 1930s and 1940s, Joseff supplied close to 90% of all jewelry worn on screen
Included in the lineup is the coral necklace worn by Vivien Leigh (Scarlett) in the memorable barbecue scene at Twelve Oaks, the cigar case donated by Rhett Butler for the war effort and used by the ‘King of Hollywood’ himself, Clark Gable, along with several watch chains and FOBs worn by Gable in the film. The iconic “bell earrings” worn by actress Ona Munson as “Belle Watling” will also be on display along with dozens of artisanal Joseff designed pieces from other well-known films starring many of the “Gone With the Wind” actors, such as Ann Rutherford, Olivia de Havilland, Ona Munson, and of course, Vivien Leigh.
The plaque with the sailboat is an alternate front piece for the cigar box. In the film, Rhett tosses it in the basket at a fundraiser for the Civil War to be melted down. Instead of making another cigar case for the film, Joseff made another front for it so Clark Gable could use the case for the rest of the movie.
The fabulous pieces are part of the “Property from Joseff of Hollywood Treasures from the Vault” collection of jewelry that until now has remained in possession of the Joseff family and rarely seen. It is the largest collection of jewelry worn by the most legendary stars of Hollywood’s Golden Era and it is for sale online and in Los Angeles through Julien’s Auction on November 17 and 18.
