The Museum of Ice Cream is coming to San Francisco. Similar to the wildly popular Color Factory, the Museum of Ice Cream is an interactive pop-up exhibit that looks at the delicious world of ice cream. Think rainbow unicorns, a sprinkle pool filled with one hundred million sprinkles, and a Pop Rocks cave. Local scoop shops Bi-Rite and Salt & Straw will be serving ice cream and It’s Its will be available. Tickets are on sale now for the museum; expect your Instagram feed to be filled with all things ice cream come September 17 when it opens.

This Saturday, August 26, in the East Bay local brewery 21st Amendment is hosting their annual AugustFest. From 12 to 6 p.m. at the San Leandro Brewery and Tap Room, there will be live music and an assortment of festivities. Sample rare brews and cigars, enjoy delicious eats from 4505 Burgers & BBQ, The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen, and Three Twins Ice Cream, and dance to the Stone Foxes. Admission is free to this family-friendly event.

The Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) is hosting a special dinner at the St. Regis next Tuesday, August 29 at 6:30 p.m. The evening features culinary and cultural historian, Michael W. Twitty, and is in celebration of his new book, The Cooking Gene: A Journey Through African-American Culinary History in the Old South. There will be lively conversation between Twitty and food writer Stephen Satterfield and jazz and soul vocalist Valerie Troutt will perform.
