Summer after summer National Oyster Day comes to visit us, bringing with it reminiscences of East Coast weekends. Something about oysters makes us think of fresh cut lemons, the clean taste of gin cocktails, and sun-kissed skin. Why shouldn’t they get their own day? While the East Coast might be a key player in all things shell fish, some of the best ways to enjoy National Oyster Day happen to be in the heart of Chicago. Here are the best places to celebrate National Oyster Day in The Windy City.

1 Cold Storage

From 11 AM to 12 PM on August 5th this West Loop treasure is running specials across the board. Not only will they be doing one dollar oyster specials all day, but happy hour drink specials last throughout the day as well. As an additional celebratory bonus? If your table ends up with the legendary Golden Oyster, your meal is on the house. Photo credit: @ColdStorageChicago
2 III Forks

While III Forks has a swoon-worthy ambiance to offer you any time, this National Oyster Day you can add one more reason to your list of reasons to dine with them. They will be serving dollar oysters starting Saturday at 4 PM. While you're there: may we suggest requesting a seat on the roof and ordering a Manhattan. You'll thank us later.
