Weekend Roundup: American Comfort Spot Hudson Jane Opens in Fort Greene

Coming at you hot to Brooklyn’s happening Fort Greene neighborhood is Hudson Jane, a gratuity-included all-day café, restaurant and wine bar from partners Chef Megan Johnson (previously Gramercy Tavern, Gottino & Casellula) and Jen LaPorta. The menu is based on Megan’s take on American comfort food for breakfast, lunch, brunch and dinner. Available is also a grab-and-go retail section for on-the-go New Yorkers that offers house-made provisions and local goods throughout the day, from breakfast pastries to lunch sandwiches to dishes to take home for a quick dinner.

Menu highlights include:

  • The Double Brown, Megan’s trademarked brunch and dinner sandwich with egg, bacon, tomato, lettuce and Aleppo pepper aioli between two hash brown patties (pictured above).
  • The Molinaro, made with Red Farm coppa, Molinaro Toscano salame, house-made Canadian bacon, provolone, pepperoncini peppers, lettuce and Italian dressing on a Roman style roll.
  • Valancy Jane’s Vegan BLT, with eggplant “bacon,” tomato and lettuce on Bien Cuit’s seed & grain pullman, and Patty’s Melt with Swiss cheese, grass-fed beef patty, bacon, tomato, dijon and mayo on chive pain au lait.

Designed by Masterson Architecture & Design (Atrium Dumbo), the interior space was created to appeal to both aesthetics and utility; a functional space that can also serve as a simple backdrop for the vibrant food. Accented by antiques collected by Megan and Jen over the years, the personal items give the restaurant a cozy touch.
