Quick Hits Boston: 110 Grill’s Fast-Track to Success

The owners of 110 Grill are clearly on a fast-track to success. The Westford-based restaurant group already has six locations in Massachusetts and two in New Hampshire with another four to open by the end of the year and even more in 2018. Their most recent location south of Boston, which opened on July 6, is a welcome addition to Braintree’s Forbes Road. Here, you will find some creative takes on classic dishes – think flatbreads topped with spinach and artichoke dip, tater tot poutine, chicken cordon blue sandwiches served on pretzel buns and pulled pork mac and cheese topped with crispy onion strings.

Each restaurant features the 110 Grill signature look – open kitchens, private dining rooms, large horseshoe-shaped bars and outdoor patios with fire pits. Our friendly (and attentive) server, Moe, greeted us and quickly got us started with a couple of draft beers – specialty cocktails include peach sangria (available in a carafe for up to four guests), a watermelon marg-tini (perfect for summer), coriander grapefruit mojito and their signature City Lights cosmo with housemade cranberry apple shrub.

The 5,812-square foot modern American restaurant offers seating for 180 diners with gluten-free and dietary restricted menus also available. The scratch kitchen features a nice selection of appetizers like Cajun yellowfin tuna served rare with Asian slaw, sweet teriyaki and a sriracha aioli drizzle; barbecue chicken nachos with corn tortilla chips, pulled chicken, barbecue sauce, cheddar cheese, ranch dressing, black beans, corn and banana peppers; and Mediterranean mussels, sautéed with artichokes, roasted tomatoes, olives, capers and white wine, finished with lemon and garlic butter.

We recommend getting started with the crispy bistro wings (buffalo also available) basted in a delicious maple barbecue sauce. From there, move onto the spinach flatbread, a perfect size to share (but so good you may not want to) topped with spinach and artichoke dip (does it get any better than this?), sauteed spinach, roasted tomatoes along with pamesan and white cheddar cheeses.

When it comes to main events, the approachable menu features everything from farm raised Atlantic salmon (grilled or Cajun); the customer favorite – chicken Caprese parmesan with pesto, Reggiano cheese, mozzarella and roasted tomatoes finished with a balsamic reduction; and their signature bourbon marinated steak tips topped with a whiskey glaze. We love the Cajun salmon burger, a delicious housemade sesame ginger salmon burger topped with Asian slaw and spiced up Sriracha aioli made even better with a side of roasted Brussels sprouts. One of our favorite dishes here is their hearty chicken pesto pasta, pan seared chicken with roasted tomatoes, artichokes and cavatappi pasta tossed in a deliciously creamy pesto sauce.
Be sure to save some room for a sweet treat like a bite of the Peanut Butter Cascade, Oreo brownie sundae or caramelized banana flatbread made even better with the addition of Nutella and sea salt. Doesn’t get much better than this.
