Weekend Roundup: Auction Napa Valley, Colossal Clusterfest

Up in wine country, the Coppola family hosted the 37th annual Auction Napa Valley. The festivities included a barrel tasting and auction inside the winery caves at Inglenook and a spirited live auction at Meadowood Napa Valley. Over $15 million was raised to support local health communities and children’s education. “It was an honor for our family to chair this year’s Auction Napa Valley,” Roman Coppola said in a statement. “Napa Valley is our family’s home and we’re grateful for the generosity of our bidders, fellow vintners, partners and donors, local chefs, volunteers and every member of the community that comes together to make Auction Napa Valley a success year after year. The funds we raised this weekend will help strengthen families and make the seemingly impossible possible for tens of thousands of our neighbors.” Soul singer Leon Bridges performed at the main event and the meal, which was an Italian feast, was prepared by Francis Ford Coppola and a team of volunteer chefs.

The area surrounding Civic Center was a madhouse this weekend—Comedy Central hosted it’s first Colossal Clusterfest. The three day comedy extravaganza featured over 15 comedians including Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Burr, Anna Faris, and Maya Rudolph.

The Fine Arts Museums of SF recently acquired 62 works by 22 contemporary African-American artists. All of the works—including paintings, sculptures, quilts, and drawings by artists such as Thornton Dial and Bessie Harvey—can now be seen at the exhibit Revelations: Art from the African American South. To celebrate the momentous show, the de Young hosted a donor reception on Friday, June 2. Notable guests who attended the event were Max and Nina Hollein, Dede Wilsey, and Willie Brown.
