When in town, a must-stop on the celebrity dining list is Strega Waterfront. Spotted at the Fan Pier location this weekend were several players from the Chicago Cubs and Mark Wahlberg (dining separately), who come to the swanky haute spot not only for the gorgeous oceanfront view, but the heaping portions of Italian specialties like lobster ravioli topped with crabmeat cream sauce, fettucini Strega (their signature dish made with shrimp, scallops and spinach) and cast iron roasted lamb chops.

Red Sox legend David Ortiz was in Providence yesterday to deliver the commencement address at the New England Institute of Technology where he also received an honorary degree.

Team IMPACT celebrated its fifth annual “Game Day Gala” at the Seaport World Trade Center. The sports-themed benefit which raised money for the nonprofit matching children with life-threatening and chronic illnesses with college athletic teams was co-chaired by Jay Calnan and Dan Kraft, emceed by ESPN’s Wendi Nix, and attended by Robert Kraft and Dion Lewis of the Patriots. Over $1.8 million was raised to support the efforts of Team IMPACT, which has matched more than 1,100 children with 450 colleges and universities throughout the country since its inception in 2011.

Chef Barbara Lynch and Alison Nolan of Boston Harbor Cruises are joining forces in a new partnership known as Salt Water Inc. This two will provide new dining opportunities aboard BHC cruises along with cafes and food service on the Boston Harbor Islands and Rose Kennedy Greenway,

On Friday night, The Revere Hotel hosted its third annual Fashion to the Rescue event, one of Boston’s most stylish charity events to raise money for the Aimee Takaha’s Farm Animal Sanctuary, which offers therapeutic visits for students from the local School for the Blind, kids with autism, Down syndrome and veterans suffering from PTSD. Some of Boston’s most stylish personalities attended, including Ayla Brown, Liz Walker, Jackie Bruno-Finley, Gail Huff and Yolanda Cellucci. Guests enjoyed gourmet cuisine while sipping on cocktails and watching a high-end fashion show by David Josef Fashions.

This year, the Taste of the North End benefited the North End Waterfront Health. This year, more than 45 North End restaurants, bakeries and distributors came together to support the programs and services offered by the health center as well as other neighborhood charities for children and elders. The event was founded by Donato and Nancy Frattaroli in 1993 as a benefit for Casa Monte Cassino. The family was staying at the CMC while their four daughters received medical attention at Boston’s Children’s Hospital Boston. The Frattarolis were touched by their story and inspired by the mission of the Casa; to provide a place to stay for impoverished families from around the world while their children receive serious medical attention in Boston. The event has raised more than $450,000 for Casa Monte Cassino and other local North End charities.

You know spring has finally arrived when The Rooftop at The Taj reopens for Sunday Brunch. From now through October, this haute spot offers a beautiful view of The Public Garden, Boston Common and the entire Boston skyline as the backdrop. Traditional breakfast items include omelets, eggs Benedict, a waffle station, quiche and a selection of yogurt parfaits and fresh fruit as well as a weekly menu of changing specials like chicken and waffles, raw bar and sushi, dim sum, stir fry, and Indian specialties. Brunch seatings are at 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. and reservations are required.

Today, Millennium Boston is opening Shoppers Plaza, a triangular open-air plaza adjacent to Millennium Tower in downtown Boston at 1 Franklin Street. It will feature a historic Tower Clock and elevated seating known as “The Steps” where you can check out performances by New England artists, including Joe Weinberg and the Berklee College of Music.

All eyes tonight will be on New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s invitation-only Met Gala where Tom and Gisele will serve as co-chairs and local Boston designers like Michael De Paulo will be showing off their latest creations.

Tomorrow, the Mandarin Oriental, Boston will debut MOspresso, a pop-up coffee shop in the lobby lounge from coffee brand Illy. Now through June 30, you can sip on artisan specialty coffees or MOspresso java-inspired martinis while snacking on coffee-inspired desserts courtesy of Pastry Chef Robert Differ.
