Park Grove Hosts Artist Talk with Michele Oka Doner

It was a beautiful evening at the Park Grove sales gallery, where Miami native artist and author Michele Oka Doner was celebrated for the launch of her new book, Intuitive Alphabet. The intimate art discussion and book signing, hosted by the property’s developers, Terra and Related group, consisted of a cocktail hour featuring hors d’oeuvres by award winning chef Michael Schwartz.

Michele’s art career began four decades ago, and she has since produced numerous artworks using a wide variety of mediums. Her public art instillation, A Walk on the Beach, was featured at the Miami International Airport from 1995-2010.

Michele led the discussion of the evening with her guest, well-known author and journalist Alastair Gordon. The conversation was centered around her creative process fueled by her appreciation of nature and finding art in every day life, as well as her passion for literature. She discussed also Intuitive Alphabet, which pays tribute to discovery and explains where the meaning of language comes from, how it has evolved, and how it is learned today.

Aside from the discussion, guests experienced Michele’s signature environmental theme throughout the Meyer-Davis designed sales gallery, viewed model kitchens by William Sofield, and took in the breathtaking views of Biscayne Bay and Grove Harbour Marina.

At the end of the evening, Michele met with guests one on one and gifted them each a personalized signed copy of her new book.

Notable guests in attendance included Ilona Oppenheim, Co-Founder of TRA Publishing, Patrick Campbell, Vice President of The Related Group, Carlos Rosso, President of Condo Development for The Related Group, and Michael Patrizio, Director of Urban Development at Terra Group.
