It’s that glorious time of year we have all been so patiently waiting for when temperatures start rising and we can finally enjoy a cocktail al fresco while soaking up the sun. Whether you prefer an oceanfront setting to share a fishbowl cocktail with some friends or would rather a poolside view for some quiet relaxation, it’s time to put these five haute outdoor bars on your bucket (of beer) list this summer.

1 Lookout Rooftop & Bar

The Envoy Hotel
Reopening for the season today, Lookout Rooftop & Bar is one of Boston's newest and coolest additions. Located high atop The Envoy Hotel in the Seaport District, this haute spot is the perfect destination for an after-work cocktail to relax under the stars. The seasonal roof deck offers one of the best skyline and harbor views in town. Come early for a seat at the bar or relax on one of the couches while sipping on a City Side Margarita, Whiskey Daisy or Lime O’Clock Mule (their take on the Moscow mule available on tap).

2 The Rooftop Pool at The Colonnade

The Colonnade Hotel
Summer has arrived early when The Colonnade Hotel opens its Back Bay Roof Top Pool (better known to locals at the RTP) for the season (this year’s opening will be on Friday, May 26). Cabanas can be reserved to retreat to if you get too much sun, but we love coming to the hotel’s roof deck at night when guests when the vibe comes alive with some drinks and music under the stars. (The RTP is open to the public until 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and is only open to hotel guests and residents on Sundays).

3 Tia's Restaurant & Bar

Tia's Waterfront Bar
Tia’s is tucked inside The Marriott Long Wharf and has been one of the hautest spots with the after-work crowd for decades. Snack on an order of steamed mussels, fried clams or sweet chili fried calamari and enjoy a few cocktails (perhaps a Long Wharf Lemonade, cucumber cosmo or their specialty Lemon Drop) at this waterfront location. Come here for the lively patio scene and comfortable outdoor seating that gets even hauter as the summer temperatures rise.

4 Rooftop at the Revere Hotel

Revere Hotel
Next week, The Revere Hotel is unveiling a grand reopening of the Back Bay hotel located near the Theater District complete with a Paul Revere theme. The $20 million transformation will feature a completely remodeled rooftop pool area with poolside seating and lounge areas. There will be a full bar area with new outdoor and poolside seating along with a lounge area. You will be able to snack on smoked bluefish pate, New England lobster rolls served on a brioche bun and Moroccan spiced chicken lettuce wraps, while sipping on pina coladas or simply kick back and relax on one of the comfy lounge chairs and enjoy the city view. (For the hotel, look for a wall-to-wall mural of the Boston Massacre, a life-size sculpture of Paul Revere’s horse created from recycled materials, and stained glass panels inspired by the Old North Church).

5 The Landing at Long Wharf

The Landing at Long Wharf
It doesn't get much better than sitting out and sipping on a fruity fishbowl cocktail while taking in a waterfront view of Boston Harbor. The Landing at Long Wharf adjacent to The New England Aquarium is Boston's only fully outdoor patio bar where you can enjoy a front row oceanfront view from the dock. The casual vibe here is perfect to enjoy an afternoon summer cocktail while waiting for a Boston Harbor Cruise.
