Yacht of the Week: Azimut 77S

Sometimes you want uncompromising performance with style. The Azimut 77S will give you both, and lots of it. The power comes from three six-cylinder Volvo-Penta diesel, which will each supply you with 900 horse powers. They are connected to Volvo’s computerized IPS drives, which have a low-drag. It gives the 77S a top speed of 36 knots, and the cruising speed is just below this at 32 knots.

Although fitted with stabilizers, you might want to turn those off when you really want to enjoy the ride. The 77S is surprisingly nimble and has no problem with sharper turns. It is a yacht that you want to handle yourself and is bound to put a smile on your face when doing so.

But it is not only with its power that this Azimut convinces. It is the concept as a whole, as well as the superb finishing, that makes this yacht such a convincing proposition. With an overall length of just over 77 feet, it is not a particular large yacht. This benefits its performance but doesn’t actually compromise the space on board. It features four cabins, plus two crew cabins and the master bedroom is spacious, to say the least.

Azimut 77S By placing the galley below deck, the main deck is dedicated to a luxurious living and dining room. Because the 77S is not only fitted with oversized windows on either side but also has a sunroof, it looks visually even larger thanks to all the light that flows in.

Outside, the foredeck offers ample room to sit under the bimini in full comfort. Aft, the pivoting platform offers a generous beach area, but also houses the garage with room for a tender and jet ski, and comes with an easy launch mechanism. However, the flying bridge is the place to be when you put this yacht under power where you can enjoy it for what it is made for: to cruise in luxury, while enjoying the excitement of the speed it generates!
