Cinco de Mayo is always a fun celebratory day here in Boston, so we thought we would get a head start to help you make plans for a haute night out on the town.
While you may not think of a steakhouse as a first stop on Cinco de Mayo, wait until you hear what Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar has in store. From May 4 to 6, you can indulge in a specialty $100 margarita that is being offered in partnership with Tequila Herradura and the luxe crystal manufacturer, Baccarat. The cocktail is made with Tequila Herradura Selección Suprema and Grand Marnier Centenaire served in Baccarat’s gorgeous Diamant Highball. If you decide to splurge on the cocktail at the Back Bay location, you can take the glass home as a memento of your haute night out on the town.

When it comes to sipping blanco, reposado, anejo and “very special” tequilas, next stop up is Mija Cantina & Tequila Bar
in Faneuil Hall for a taste of one of their 150 top-shelf options (We recommend a shot of Ocho, a velvety smooth combination of butterscotch and cooked bell pepper). For the ultimate indulgence, try a shot of the ultra aged in double cask Jose Cuervo 250 Anniversario Extra Anejo that will set you back $260. They recently introduced a spring menu that includes pineapple jalapeno glazed wings and grilled swordfish kebabs paired up with a side of delicious Mexican street corn and some chips with a trio of dips (chili con queso, salsa and guacamole).
For some of the best tacos in town, last stop on the Cinco de Mayo tour is a visit to Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar
. The carne asada version is overflowing with juicy slices of Painted Hills flank steak topped with chimichurri, pico de gallo, green mole, queso fresco and fresh avocado. We love the crispy Baja fried fish tacos as well as the spicy fried shrimp version with avocado puree. Keep an eye out next month as they will be hosting their third annual Five Days of Cinco (May 1-5) featuring food and drink specials along with DJs and a kickoff party scheduled for May 1.
