Neiman Marcus San Francisco is unparalleled for its fashion and style, and recently it offered an exclusive lifestyle experience for its elite clientale by presenting an in-store fashion show, featuring the Carolina Herrera pre-fall and fall 2017 collections. As expected, it was a beautifully organized event with the personal appearance of the designer herself and Neiman Marcus’s fashion director, Ken Downing. The couture salon and most of the third floor was transformed into a long catwalk, so uber chic guests were able to fully enjoy the luxury of the House of Herrera.

Carolina Herrera Fall 2017 is a really refined collection—it’s classic, amazing, delightful—and brings to mind a strict, yet graceful aristocracy. Herrera is known for creating very feminine and elegant looks. This is one of the reasons why her designs often rule the red carpet.

The show started with models wearing everyday casual cool looks, before it shifted into serious evening gowns. I’ve always loved the simplicity of the white collared shirt, and this collection brought a major variety of that style—from wrap-waisted to a simple look with velvet-ribbon details. A crisp white shirt with a black skirt is an effortlessly sophisticated look and is one of Fall 2017’s main staples. The spectacular evening dresses with delicate sequined embroidery—light as an air—continued the show, creating a real sense of femininity with soft pastels and rich colors.

The appearance of Herrera brought the real excitement and it felt similar to attending the New York Fashion Week show, but with one very special detail: the designer came out after the show to talk to the guests which made the event very personal and warm. Of course, the show would not be complete without the always entertaining and stylish Ken Downing. His knowledge of fashion and style is unbeatable. The global fashion ambassador was all smiles and more than happy to take pictures with his glowing fans.
