Haute Weekend Roundup Boston and Red Sox Opening Day 2017

We hopefully had our final snowstorm of the season this weekend, but things are *finally* beginning to heat up here in Boston with temps expected in the 50s today, not to mention today is the official home opener for the Red Sox at Fenway Park against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Here’s a look at some haute happenings that went on this weekend in Boston.

Sebastian Maniscalco was at The Wilbur Theater, Anime Boston welcomed more than 25,000 attendees to the Hynes Convention Center and Che Malambo was at the Shubert Theater.

If you were lucky enough to catch the Boston Bruins‘ 5-2 victory over the Florida Panthers on Saturday at the TD Garden, the win seemed even sweeter with a view from Cross Insurance Boardroom. One of six premium club seating levels available here, this members only club offers early admission through a private entrance, private bars, all inclusive food options (think shrimp cocktail, carving stations and seasonal favorites like maple glazed pork and turkey tips), priority parking and access to VIP members only events. Membership to the two-story luxe club includes access to two tickets to every Bruins and Celtics regular season home game (on a pay-as-you go basis), along with the availability to purchase additional tickets to concerts and special events.

Boston’s own Wayfair announced the launch of Sofia, the first-ever voice-controlled smart sofa that pairs with wifi, Bluetooth technology, and cable TV enabling access to smartphone devices and apps. Through its voice recognition system, you can access your calendar and listen to and respond to emails and text messages, create to-do lists, upload photos and video to social media, order food delivery, change the TV station and access DVR-ed shows. Some other haute features include built-in massage therapy, self-fluffing cushions and pillows, and an auto-clean function made possible through a built-in vacuum that senses when cleaning is needed. Sofia even collects loose change found under the cushions and conveniently rolls the coins.

Lufthansa officially unveiled its brand new lounge at Boston Logan Airport located in the top floor of Terminal E. The lounge features a window façade with views of Boston’s waterfront with seating for up to 162 guests. The lounge is open to Lufthansa’s premium and status customers, including HON Circle Members (premium economy passengers may also purchase passes to access the new lounge).

The first pitch is being thrown out at Fenway Park today at 2:05 p.m. and with the home opener comes the opening of Tully Tavern, thanks to Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskeythe official Irish whiskey of the Boston Red Sox. The in-park 2,450 square foot bar will reside in the Right Field Grandstand and feature cocktails like the signature Tullamore D.E.W. Monster Mule created by Tullamore D.E.W. Ambassador Tim Herlihy.

Also new this year, Aramark is introducing lobster poutine stak to its menu at Fenway Park, a delicious New England take with fresh lobster meat, cheese curds, lobster bisque and, of course, French fries.

Keep an eye out at three concession stands at Fenway Park where the North End’s Rina’s Pizzeria and Café will begin serving up a “Meatball Cone” (a crisp pizza dough rolled into the shape of an ice cream cone, stuffed with one of Strega’s meatballs and fresh ricotta, topped with homemade pomodoro and a sprinkle of cheese.
