Last night, former professional tennis player Andre Agassi wowed guests as he announced his donation of $1 million to the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health during his award-acceptance speech at Keep Memory Alive’s 21st annual Power of Love® Gala at the MGM Grand Las Vegas.
The glamorous gala is held every year to bring awareness and raise funds for the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, which provides care for patients with Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, dementia and Huntington’s disease. Agassi and Ronald O. Perelman, Chairman and Executive Officer of MacAndrews & Forbes Inc., were both honored for their incredible philanthropy.
“Being able to come here tonight, let alone receiving an honor; just to be here is truly a blessing, to watch a combination of so much effort be put into this,” said Agassi.
Siegfried Fischbacher was also honored at the gala, receiving the inaugural Caregiver Award for his continued commitment to caring for his longtime partner and friend, Roy Horn.
Other celebrity supporters of the cause included Steve Wynn, Larry King, Vince Neil, Steve Schirripa, Kenneth “Baby Face” Edmonds, John Paul DeJoria, community leaders and celebrity chef’s Wolfgang Puck and Michael Mina, who provided the delicious cuisine of the evening. Guest’s indulged in a crisp Spring Mezze salad prepared by Chef Puck and delectable Wagyu by Chef Mina. Dessert consisted of an assortment of sweet treats, including an ice cream cocktail with hints of coconut and almond, courtesy of Patrón and Moet Hennesy USA.
The gala’s live auction featured lavish one-of-a-kind experiences, including a limited edition M-Piano featuring a private performance by Andrea Bocelli, which sold for $650,000. A private lunch with legendary artist, Jeff Koons was auctioned off for $175,000 and a private dinner at your home, prepared by Michael Mina and Wolfgang Puck sold for $250,000.
Bon Jovi and Gwen Stefani were slated to perform, but due to a ruptured eardrum, Stefani unfortunately was unable to make it. A surprise guest was announced to take her place early in the evening. That surprise performer was the talented, Grammy-award winning singer, Jennifer Hudson. Hudson rocked the night away with an unbelievable performance that had guests dancing and singing along; a perfect way to end an incredible evening.
