At SPQR, one of the best restaurants in San Francisco for a date, chef Matthew Accarrino is celebrating the harvest of his very own caviar. Accarrino has spent the past four years working closely with Sacramento-based sturgeon farms who specialize in sustainably raising white sturgeon. He’s learned how to make use of the entire fish and lets nothing, from the eggs to the flesh, skin, and organ meat, go to waste. From now until March 11, diners can enjoy a caviar and sturgeon menu at SPQR. The four-course prix fixe features four innovative sturgeon preparations including caviar with non-traditional garnishes and smoked sturgeon and potato gnocchi with pea pesto.
The Marina is getting a new wine bar. The Chronicle is reporting that Jody Harris and Gingy Harris Gable, the duo behind Napa’s Cultivar Wine is opening a 36-seat space on Chestnut Street near A16 and Causwells. All of the 65 bottles—from Napa, Sonoma, and the west coast—that will be on their wine list will also be available for purchase. The kitchen will serve small plates from 3 to 10 p.m. and a late-night menu of cheese until 11 p.m.

Yesterday some of the Bay Area’s leading female figures gathered at the Fairmont Hotel for the 22nd annual power of choice luncheon hosted by NARAL (which stands for the National Association for Repeal of Abortion Laws). Special guests included keynote speaker Jay Newton-Small, author of Broad Influence: How Women are Changing the Way America Works and notable attendees included Susie Tompkins Buell, Dagmar Dolby, Chair, Nonie Greene, Jane Wolf, Prisca Geeslin, Connie Nielson, and Jennifer Siebel Newsom.
