It’s Riesling week at Waterbar, the luxurious Embarcadero Street restaurant. From now until March 5, beverage directer Steve Izzo, sommelier Tommy Yracheta, and chef de cuisine Justin Baade will team up to create a special menu that is meant to pair with Reisling. The four-course meal will feature seafood preparations of red prawns as well as lamb shoulder, scallops, and more.
Tomorrow night, the W San Francisco is launching the 2017 What She Said series. The innovative platform is a way for women entrepreneurs to reach the next generation. The first females that will be featured are Andréa and Robin McBride, two half-sisters who have a fascinating story about how they lived separate lives, had a chance meeting, discovered they both were passionate about the wine industry, and launched their own wine business. At the event they will debut the McBride Sisters Collection sparkling brut rose.
Fans of Off the Grid take note. The food truck organization’s flagship event, Friday nights at Fort Mason Center kicks of the upcoming seventh season on Friday, March 3. The layout haas been updated and there will be two main sections—one that has a communal dining area, cocktails from Rye on the Road, music, and dancing—and another that will be a space strictly for eating in a more intimate setting. From 5-7:30 p.m., there will be a live DJ and at 8 p.m, the music will shift to a live band. A mixture of up-and-coming and establishing culinary vendors will be serving up delicious food. Tai Chi Jianbing and El Porteño are two new vendors while A16 and Jonny Doughnuts are returning favorites. Off the Grid: Fort Mason Center takes place every Friday from 5-10 p.m. through the end of October.

Also happening this weekend? The Center for Asian American Media is hosting a festival that celebrates Asian American culinary achievement. On Saturday, March 4, from 6-9 pm.m the food+drink reception, auction, and award ceremony will honor chef Roy Choi for his dedication to creating access to wholesome food in underserved urban communities like the Tenderloin. Other chefs being honored include Khai Duong, Christopher Yeo, and Lawrence Chu. Cocktails courtesy of Remy Martin and Distillery No. 209 will be served alongside snacks by LocoL, Hodo Soy, Boba Guys, Buffalo Theory, and Socola Chocolatier.
Curbed SF is reporting on a new hotel from Virgin that will be opened on the corners of Fourth and Folsom. This will be the company’s second hotel offering—it opened its first U.S. hotel in Chicago in 2015. The new resort, which is slated to debut this summer, will have 196 suites and master suites, several dining options, a coffee shop, and a rooftop bar.
In other opening news, Sharon Ardiana, the owner of one of our favorite pizza places, Ragazza on Divisadero, has just taken over the former La Nebbia space in Noe Valley. According to the Tablehopper, Ardiana will be doing a light refresh of the decor. The food will be Cal-Med with a focus on vegetable-centric small plates, plus some heartier entrees and pizzas, all meant to be shared family style. The upcoming restaurant will be Ardiana’s third, she also owns Gialina in Glen Park, and it will be called simply Ardiana.
