1 Yashin Sushi

Tucked away in picturesque Kensington, Yashin is a lesser known yet phenomenal example of what sushi should be. Opt for a la carte or sit back and enjoy the tasting menu. Enjoy the highest quality fish but donā€™t expect sushi classics like California rolls and soy sauce isn't an option. It's the real deal.

2 ROKA

ROKA is the most frequently recommended sushi restaurant amongst Londoners. The polished interior and impeccable service, coupled with the high standard of food make it a natural choice for any social occasion. ROKA is Zumaā€™s younger sister restaurant and has been so successful they now have four locations around town. Menu highlights include yellowtail tuna with yuzu-truffle dressing and rock lobster with mandarin kosho. The central open kitchens in all locations allow you to watch expert chefs prepare your sushi and work the robata grill.

3 Sushisamba

Step inside the glass capsule adorning the side of Heron Tower and shoot up 38 floors to this stylish New York import. Sushisamba combines the best of Japan, Brazil and Peru to bring you a bustling night out. Due to its proximity to the financial district, be prepared to witness a lot of champagne popping, although we definitely recommend ordering off the sake menu. Try the Samba London roll made with crab, tuna, salmon, white fish, prawn, avocado, tempura crunch, rice cracker, Japanese pickles, wasabi mayo, aji panca, and soy reduction. It's definitely the star of the show.

4 Dinings

Conceived by Nobu alumni Masaki Sugisaki and Keiji Fuku, Dinings used to be a bit of a Marylebone secret, now youā€™d be lucky to secure a stool at the street level bar without a reservation. If you do manage to get a table, youā€™ll be seated in the basement section which is designed to strict Japanese minimal standards. The cuisine is incredible with delicately prepared dishes like wagyu beef sushi topped with truffle salsa and garlic infused yellowtail sashimi with British caviar. Be prepared to indulge.

5 Chotto Matte

This vast restaurant on Frith Street in Soho has deliciously combined Japanese and Peruvian cuisine, creating a surprising and sexy new phenomenon. Picture the most melt-in-your-mouth slices of sashimi, reinforced with slivers of jalapeƱos and coriander leaving a clean heat. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed, although a trip to the loo may feel like an escape room challenge with mirrored doors and futuristic lighting. After dinner head down to the lounge bar and enjoy cocktails and dancing to live music sets.
