The Catch is Shonda Rhimes’ world, and Sonya Walger lives in it, playing Margot, a sexy con artist working alongside Peter Krause, who has conned his fiance, top private investigator, played by Mireille Enos, out of millions before disappearing. The second season of this hit ABC series returns to tonight, and you’ll see Walger—who has previously appeared as “Penny” in Lost—make being bad look really, really good. Here, Walger, who also has two films arriving this year including Be My Baby and Anon, which she recently filmed with Clive Owen, shares her haute secrets to the City of Angels with Haute Living.

Where were you born: London, England

How long in LA:  16 years.

Neighborhood: Malibu. In the hills. I was a West Hollywood and Laurel Canyon girl for years and it was so central that I felt like we’d moved to Portland when we came to Malibu,  but now I can’t imagine living anywhere else. We have the best of all worlds, hilltop living, 15 minutes from town, with the beach at the bottom of the road.

Occupation: Actor/writer

Favorite Restaurant: Just one?! I can’t. Gjelina, AOC, in fact any Suzanne Goin restaurant, Trois Mec, Bestia, Mozza,

Best Sushi: Malibu Nobu for ease, but I miss Nozawa in my soul.

Best Italian: Mozza

Best dessert: Butterscotch pudding at Gjelina

Best place for a romantic date: Dudley Market

If you have out of town guests, which hotel would you recommend? Shutters or Sunset Tower

Best Spa: Olympic Korean Spa

Favorite Charity Event: Raising Baby – Alliance of Mom’s

Favorite Cultural Event: Seeing anything at UCLA or the Broad Theater in Santa Monica– they have the best programming in the city – dance, NT Live, international theatre – I can hardly wait to get their brochures.

Favorite Cultural Institution: Kidspace Museum in Pasadena – my babies adore it, I just wish it were nearer!

Best Steakhouse: Musso and Frank. With a huge martini.

Best Pizza: Not a clue, not my thing

Best Lunch: Sugarfish Bento Box, chopped salad from True Food Kitchen, meatballs at Milo & Olive

Best Gym/Athletic Facility: Tracy Anderson Brentwood – I’ve been a fan for years

Best Massage: Massage Therapy Center on Sawtelle – everyone there is fabulous

Best Museum/Exhibit: Anything at the Broad Museum

Describe your city in three words: Diverse, foodie, underestimated

Favorite historic/legendary place to see or explore: Hearst Castle

All-around favorite spot in Los Angeles: The Last Bookstore in DTLA

Best Aspect of Los Angeles: It is a city predicated on creativity – it’s restless and always emerging and full of some of the most inspired, passionate, creative empathetic people I’ve ever met. Sure, it lacks the layered history of Europe, or the chic supercilious polish of New York, but it’s newness and willingness to embrace newness make it a city that is refreshing to live in. Oh, and the weather doesn’t suck either.
