It’s SF Beer Week; Tyler Florence Opening a Bar

SF Beer Week starts tonight and restaurants, bars, and breweries all over the city are getting involved. 21st Amendment Brewery is hosting a series of events including a strong beer brunch, a library stash tasting, a special strong beer educational dinner, and an all day party with the Fatted Calf and Magnolia Brewery. Fat Angel is throwing their sixth annual grand sour tasting with the Bruery on Monday, February 13 and guests can indulge in 11 pours of the Orange County-based craft brewery. Other themed nights at Fat Angel include a Belgian bash on Thursday, the 16th, and a cider extravaganza on Sunday, February 19. Tyler Florence has announced a new upstairs bar space at his financial district restaurant, Wayfare Tavern. The Sequoia will be the eatery’s exclusive bar experience. The 50-seat space is being designed by Ken Fulk and has a skylight view of the Transamerica building. It’s on the fourth floor of the building and will be accessible by a street-level door that is right next to Wayfare Tavern. The Sequoia is set to debut in March.

After a rough and disappointing season, the San Francisco 49ers are getting a fresh start with a new coach. Kyle Shanhan came into town on Wednesday. To celebrate the occasion, the 49ers made a video, that they shared on Twitter, of Shanhan’s first 49 hours in SF—check it out below. At a press conference earlier today, he announced the signing of the first six members of the team’s new coaching staff.
