We all know city real estate is expensive–the city’s first $100 million condo sold two years ago–and rents are never a bargain in Gotham, but here’s a listing that gives new meaning to the term “pricey digs.”  A floor-through 11-room apartment at The Pierre Hotel (795 Fifth), is now renting for $500,000 a month (which sounds a little less costly than $6 million a year, which is what the annual tab works out to, of course.) Corcoran has the listing for what is now the most expensive rental in New York.

So what do you get for half a mill a month? Lots of sweeping vistas for one (according to the listing–full city, park, river and skyline views–private elevator, six bedrooms, six and a half baths, and plenty of space to ramble around in–some 4,786 square feet. Plus there are “soaring” ceiling heights and plenty of pre-war details, including a living room lined in silk and brocade, and Murano glass chandeliers.
