IT’S OSCAR WEEKEND! HERE’S WHERE TO WATCH THE 2017 ACADEMY AWARDS If you can’t be at the actual 2017 Academy Awards (or invited to one of the chic viewing parties, a la Elton John or Mercedes-Benz), you can still watch film’s biggest night in style. Here’s where to do so!
- The Tuck Room Tavern, a jovial neighborhood dining and drinking den serving American cuisine under the culinary direction of master chef Sherry Yard, is hosting a dazzling evening complete with a 4-course prix fixe dinner during The Academy Awards. Dishes are named after recent blockbusters—think entrees like La La Lamb (La La Land) mirin marinated lamb chops with ginger, chili and mint vinaigrette and Meuniere By The Sea (Manchester By The Sea) filet of sole, browned Normandy butter, grilled lemon and pommes parisienne; followed by a duo of desserts co-starring Secret Life of Arlettes (Secret Life of Pets) puff pastry cookies and Red Velvet Carpet Pavlova with crispy vanilla meringue, red velvet raspberry, chunk ice cream, whipped cream and chocolate sauce.Arrive early for a pre-show critic’s soiree and enjoy Master Bartender and Advanced Sommelier Adam Seger’s Red Carpet Fizz. The signature cocktail for the evening is garnished with a delicate rose petal and features blood orange purée, McMurray Ranch Pinot Noir, Balsam Amaro and Piper-Heidsieck, the Official Champagne.
- Tres by Jose Andres. Head to the SLS Hotel for Tres by Jose Andres’ Sparkle Like Starlets Oscar Viewing Party, red carpet included. For $40, you’ll receive your own “red carpet moment” shot, a welcome glass of cava, truffle popcorn, seating and the chance to win a stay at the hotel. There will also Andres’ signature delicacies, naturally.
- Paley. Why not celebrate Oscar weekend by sipping some signature, celebrity-inspired cocktails? Sip on the Halle Berry, made with mezcal, Dubonnet, cynar, beet juice and lime; the Audrey Hepburn, made with rum, Velvet Falernum, coconut cream, cinnamon and lime; or the Gwyneth Paltrow, vodka, Chambord, strawberry banana yogurt and sparkling rosé; and more.
DOHENY ROOM TO LAUNCH BRUNCH MENU SBE’s relatively new-ish hot spot is launching a brunch menu in coming weeks. On March 12, Chef Danny Elmaleh will launch a menu of brunch-friendly fare including kimchi fried rice, vegetable shaksuka, maple challah French toast, shrimp and grits, prosciutto cotto and fried chicken and biscuits.

With the Award Season in full swing, Jaeger LeCoultre and Finch & Partners have brought their photographic exhibition “The Art of Behind The Scenes” to Los Angeles from February 11th to 26th, 2017.On February 21st, a benefit reception for the debut of the exhibition saw a packed gallery. Supporters and board members’ of the Ghetto Film School, renowned artists and photographers, and Hollywood heavyweights came out to KP Projects art gallery to glimpse rare and never before seen photographs chronicling over a century of behind the scenes movie magic. Guests included: Brett Ratner, Paul Haggis and Matthew Modine. Partial proceeds went to the non-profit Ghetto Film School to continue its tradition of educating, developing, and celebrating the next generation of great American storytellers through their free pre-professional and early career programs and networks.

THE COSTUME DESIGNER GUILD AWARD WINNERS
In addition to her umpteenth Oscar nomination, Meryl Streep was celebrated for her style at the 19th CDGA Awards, receiving the Distinguished Collaborator Award. Mandy Moore hosted the awards, which were held at The Beverly Hilton. Produced by JumpLine and presented by LACOSTE, the annual CDGA gala celebrated excellence in film, television, and short form Costume Design as voted on by the Guild’s membership, which includes more than 900 Costume Designers and Illustrators working in motion pictures, television, commercials, music videos, and new media programs throughout the world.
