This weekend was filled with a host of haute happenings in Boston. From The Boston Wine Expo to a piano concerto at Symphony Hall, here’s a look back at some of the best events.
For museum buffs:
Over at the Museum of Fine Arts, in honor of Presidents’ Day, Boston Expressionists are exhibited in “Making Modern.” In the late 1930s, Marsden Hartley began a series of large-scale portraits of personal heroes; he based “The Great Good Man” (1942) on a photograph of Abraham Lincoln by Matthew Brady.
For music lovers:
Boston Symphony Orchestra‘s music director Andris Nelsons and Emanuel Ax teamed up Saturday night for one of the pianist’s favorites, Mozart’s Piano Concerto in E-flat, K.482.

For haute Boston shoppers:
Boston’s only concept store, All Too Human, celebrated the opening of artist Baron Von Fancy’s first exhibition in Boston, “Coming in a Little Hot,” which will be in town until May.
In food related news:
James Beard Foundation announced its impressive list of 2017 semifinalists and we are proud to announce many local chefs and restaurants made the list, including the South End’s own SRV nominated for Best New Restaurant.
The long awaited Battle Road Brew House brought to us by WAAF Greg Hill’s Whole House Group is now officially open. The cool industrial space with exposed duct work and high ceilings is the perfect place to sip on a Minuteman Gold or Tavern Ale paired up with an order of brisket sliders made with burnt ends and powderkeg dry rubbed wings. Be sure to try an order of smoky St. Louis-style ribs with braised greens or the smoked pork shoulder plate with creamy slaw.
The lavish (and quite possibly Boston’s best and most indulgent) Sunday City Brunch is now being held at The Langham Boston through June. From shrimp cocktail, oysters on the half shell and freshly rolled sushi to hand carved prime rib, a create-your-own pasta station and desserts galore, there is nothing quite like the all-you-can-eat feast in the city.
One of the city’s most anticipated wine events was held this weekend at the Seaport Hotel & World Trade Center. The Boston Wine Expo was in full sipping swing featuring celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, seminars with winemakers like Robert Mondavi, Jr. a grand tasting with more than 200 wineries in town pouring over 1,800 wines and an exclusive Vintners’ Reserve Lounge where wine enthusiasts could sample rare vintages.
Speaking of wine, Boston Harbor Hotel‘s 28th Annual Boston Wine Festival is running now through March 31. This weekend, Chef Daniel Bruce hosted a wine dinner with Hedges Family Estate featuring dishes like char grilled Pacific northwest salmon, wood grilled dry rubbed sirloin and Vermont air cured beef paired up with wines including 2012 Red Mountain Cuvee Marcel Dupont, 2014 Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon and 1999 Red Mountain Reserve Red Wine.
Bringing a taste of summer to Boston:
Experience Kissimmee zipped into town this weekend (literally) with its “Freezin’ Gator Zipline,” a 200-foot temporary zipline at Dewey Square near South Station. The tourism agency also hosted airboat rides in the harbor and gave Bostonians a chance to check out some Florida gators from Gatorland Orlando.
For health focused Bostonians:
To work off all those calories put on over the weekend, Patriots Rob Gronkowski had you covered as he sponsored his Gronk Fitness Challenge at Boston Sports Club. The haute event supported the Gronk Nation Youth Foundation’s Boston Marathon Team with four Gronk Fitness, Spin, and Zumba classes and 12 hours of fundraising.
