While many celebrities headed to Houston to partake in the weekend’s Super Bowl festivities, one actress and lifestyle mogul was spotted around the Bay Area. Gwyneth Paltrow was in Marin where she spent the day at Juice Beauty. A couple of years ago, the local organic skincare brand, founded by Karen Behnke, announced a partnership with the Oscar winner. In return for helping Paltrow launch her first collection of beauty products, Paltrow came on as Juice Beauty’s creative director of makeup. Goop, Paltrow’s lifestyle brand, now has its own luxe skincare line made with organic ingredients by Juice Beauty. Paltrow spent the day at Juice’s headquarters where she Instagrammed a photo of herself. “I absolutely loved my day yesterday at #juicebeauty HQ meeting with influencers and entrepreneurs including @juicebeautykaren. So inspiring,” she wrote in the post. Rumor has it she stayed (staying?!) at Manka’s Lodge, that she shopped at Cowgirl Creamery, enjoyed oysters at Marshall Store, and had dinner at Osteria Stellina.
How did SF’s notable socials celebrate the Super Bowl? Stylist Mary Gonsalves Kinney and her husband Jason, were on the ground in Houston, where they hit up many a Super Bowl party and posed with celebrities like Jon Hamm.
Our fashion-editor-at-large took, Sonya Molodetskaya, took a break from designing sequined clothing and headed to an event at Press Club, where she sipped wine by Darioush and Quintessa.

In other news, Maria Shriver was at an event late last week in Menlo Park at the Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club, that raised $750,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. She was honored with the Silver Lining Award for her contribution to the cause. Other luminaries at the Part the Cloud luncheon included Kim Campbell, Paula Cue, David Dolby, Lisa Goldman, Suzanne Kohlberg, Sarah Rafferty and Patty Quillin.
Finally, here are two upcoming happenings that are worth mentioning. Starting this evening, Comal, our favorite authentic Mexican restaurant in Berkeley, is hosting a series of Taco Bowl Nights. On Mondays and Tuesdays throughout February, chef Matt Gandin will make a delicious tortilla bowl filled with rice, black, beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, cheese, cream, guacamole, and the diner’s choice of protein. All proceeds from the bowl sales will be donated to the East Bay Sanctuary Covenant, a non-profit that offers aid to immigrants and refugees.
Hero Shop, Emily Holt’s fantastic Tenderloin boutique is hosting a not-to-be-missed Valentine’s Day shopping event, tomorrow, Tuesday, February 7. Guys and gals are invited to shop fashions by Stevie Howell, Gabriela Hearst, and Creatures of the Wind while enjoying wine, whiskey, and burgers from In-N-Out.
