On January 25th the Universal Hip Hop Museum (UHHM) releases a compilation called 16 BARS 4 HIP HOP, a charitable music compilation featuring the 40 of the best unsigned recording artists from around the world, produced to support the preservation of Hip Hop culture. The artists selected for this historic collection have each donated a song to raise money that will contribute to a development fund for the Universal Hip Hop Museum.
The music on the 16 Bars 4 Hip Hop Album includes production styles that range from classic Boom Bap to the current popular Trap sound, with a sprinkle of Hip Hop-infused R&B. “Most of the artists on the album are new and have a growing fan base and were chosen because their talent needs to be heard,” says Rocky Bucano, executive director of the museum.
Some of the notable artists featured on this album are Chip Fu, Supa Peach, Bruse Wayne, Arianna Puello, Chris Rivers, MC Globe, Rah Digga, Cli N Tel and SIRE. Chip Fu, a member of the legendary Hip Hop group The Fu Schnickens. is regarded as one of the genre’s best lyricists. He wrote and produced the album anthem “Change The World” which features Big Pun’s son Chris Rivers and London England rapper SIRE. Supa Peach, a young Rap phenom from Atlanta with a huge YouTube following (over 2 million), was a featured cast member on Jermaine Dupree’s reality TV show The Rap Game. Bruse Wayne, a rising rap star from the Bronx, donated two songs to support the cause. These songs, Old Head and Stone Age, are classic throwbacks, but reimagined with a new production sound. Arianna Puello, the top female MC from the Dominican Republic, was recently nominated for two Latin Grammy Awards. SIRE was signed to Bad Boy Entertainment.
The first single “When We Love” by MexiCan featuring Lydia Molise and Anthm was released in December to rave reviews. The theme of the song is unity, togetherness and love which are core principles of Hip Hop’s early cultural roots. “When We Love” fuses melodic African rhythms, French horns and hip-hop infused grooves with a vocal performance by Molise.

Creative direction and production support were provided by Kurtis Blow, Cutman LG (Sirius XM), Chip Fu (Fu Schnickens, Flavor Unit), Russell Pressley (producer DJ Envy, MVP), Paradise Gray (Hip Hop historian), Raquel Delgado (Generation Hip Hop), Grandwizzard Theodore (DJ), Daniel Dapaah, Terence Barry and Reggie Peters (actor, producer).
