The members of the San Francisco Ballet Auxiliary have certainly had a busy past couple of days. Not only are they throwing this Thursday night’s ballet season opener, but last week, the gala’s chair Avé Seltsam hosted not one, but two parties on Tuesday and Thursday night. The first took place at an undisclosed private residence and celebrated the benefactors of the upcoming 84th season of the San Francisco Ballet. Principal dancers Sarah Van Patten and Yuan Yuan Tan were in attendance as well as Tiffany’s Tom Carroll and Neiman Marcus’s Alan Morrell—both luxury brands are huge supporters of the ballet—as you can tell when walking by the window fronts of their stores. Tutu art and costumes from the SF Ballet archive are currently on display. Fashion designer Yuka Uehara discussed the decor for the gala with the event designer Riccardo Benavides.

On Thursday evening, a larger crowd gathered for an event at the Fairmont’s luxe penthouse. Hosted by La Perla, the party was in honor of the gala’s patrons. Models walked around the palatial suite clad in La Perla lingerie, slinky pajamas, and pieces from the Italian designer’s latest ready-to-wear collection. Shoes and purses were on display in the dining room. The circular-shaped library doubled as a bar where the guests picked up flutes of champagne. Passed appetizers included short ribs on dollops of mashed potatoes and tuna tartare on crispy wontons. The moon and glittering Bay Bridge provided a stunning backdrop to snap a selfie. Guests included Seltsam, Brenda Leff, Phoebe Mireles, David and Vicky Cox, and Mary Gonsalves Kinney.
