Haute 100 Update: Grutman, Robins and NYC’s The Smile Open OTL

OTL-4

Three powerhouse forces came together to open Miami’s newest hip coffee shop in the Miami Design District. Nightlife mogul David Grutman joined the crew behind NYC’s The Smile and legendary developer Craig Robins to open OTL, a new joint serving up coffee, breakfast, sandwiches, salads and happy hour in the haute location of the Miami Design District.

Keeping in trend with 2017 and sticking with the healthy food mission spreading throughout the Magic City, all offerings are organic, healthy and include locally-sourced ingredients. But OTL is not just a coffee shop–its two-story design also leaves room for new cultural experiences, with plans for unique programming like yoga classes, meditation, interactive panel discussions, designer pop-up shops and more.

The coffee shop emits a very zen vibe, designed by Deft Union to make its patrons feel at home and comfortable to stay, decorated in warm, earthy tones with ample seating and luxurious touches of marble. The space also pays homage to Miami’s Cuban-influenced culture with subtle design accents throughout the space and a number of dynamic pieces of art including two vibrant pieces from Nate Lowman titled “Pink Altima” and “Green Altima.”

With a dynamic team like this one behind it, OTL is sure to be a hit among the Miami crowd. “All the partners of OTL are bringing what we do best to the table to ensure this is a winning concept,” said David Grutman, owner of LIV, Story and Komodo. “The Smile team knows how to create a welcoming, casual space with great food.  Craig Robins will bring his expertise in art and design, and I’m excited to bring fresh content to the programming and event space of the restaurant.  This is the perfect concept to expand my footprint even further and become a part of the Design District.” We look forward to see what these Haute 100-listers have in store for us.
