The Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens celebrates the Year of the Rooster with more than 22,000 flowers decorating the exhibit, welcoming the Lunar New Year. Event designer Ed Libby worked with the Bellagio horticulture team and Feng Shui master George Yau to create the look of the display, which mimics the Bellagio by MGM Shanghai resort opening this summer.
A 16-foot Moon Gate, surrounded by four ding pots that burn incense to protect against bad fortune greets guests as they walk in. Four more 17-foot standing red roses made from lentils line the corners of the East Bed from a shallow pond. A 19-foot crystal chandelier lights the sky.
The North Bed showcases an 8-foot-tall model replica of Bellagio by MGM Shanghai, a partnership with the Suning Group, a Chinese real estate developer and retailer, and will be managed by Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality, a joint venture of MGM Resorts and Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.
Located on Suzhou Creek, next to the historical Waibaidu Bridge, Bellagio by MGM Shanghai plans to feature 165 guest rooms and 25 suites, the first restaurant abroad by chef Julian Serrano, along with panoramic views of the Lujiazui skyline.
The Conservatory & Botanical Gardens is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Year of the Rooster exhibit is free and on display through March 4.
