At Ram’s Gate, the winery closest to San Francisco, a crimson red 1951 MG convertible serves as the winery’s very own Santa’s Sleigh. The winery leaves no seasonal detail overlooked. There is a vignette with a vintage type writer with a cheeky letter to Santa, red marquee lights that spell out the word “Cheers,” and a wine-focused naughty or nice list. Ram’s Gate also has a holiday celebration that involves the twelve wines of Ram’s Gate. Each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday between now and the winter solstice, the team revels a new wine. The wine is given out to one lucky winner. All of this information is displayed on festive chalkboards and brilliant signs, hand-written by calligrapher Sarah Hanna of Artful Correspondence.

ffwFrank Family Vineyards is another place that goes crazy for Christmas. They have three trees. The first is 16-feet tall and housed in their old stone building. The second is made up of 120 wine bottles. The third is located on the front porch and is a classic tree with strings of red pearls and gold globular ornaments. The tasting room is overflowing with poinsettias, red roses, and wreaths.

Francis Ford Coppola’s Inglenook is transformed into a holiday chateau. The bubbling fountains provide a soothing setting that’s enhanced by the prettily lit-up trees. Fragrant evergreen garlands and white orchids fill the space. The gift shop is filled with holiday treasures—who doesn’t want to sip wine while shopping for presents?!

At Robert Mondavi Winery, the holiday spirit is emphasized with colorful miniature lights and garlands of greenery. The late Margrit Mondavi was a huge fan of the season and always ensured that their were plenty of brilliant red poinsettias on the property. A stunning tree, dripping with white lights and dazzling red ornaments, holds court in the tasting room.  Guests can enjoy wine tasting, hot apple cider, Italian cookies, and cheese and charcuterie appetizers.
