Five Fab NYC Christmas Day Dining Options

Both Christmas and New Year’s fall on Sunday this year, which means that in addition to having a fab holiday lunch or dinner, you can also do brunch, New York style! While many restaurants are closed on Christmas Day, we found five fab options for celebrating the big day in delicious style with everything from a lavish meal to a sortie with friends for seasonal cocktails.

Bryant Park Grill (25 West 40th Street)

Located behind the New York Public Library he Bryant Park Grill is a stone’s through from the skating rink, so maybe you’ll want to take a spin before settling into a lavish lunch or dinner here. Chef Gadi Weinreich’s three course (prix fixe) menu includes  Carolina she crab soup, roasted (free range) turkey served with all the trimmings (cornbread stuffing, sweet potatoes, glazed carrots, broccoli florets and cranberry apple compote). Save room for dessert which here means a double-chocolate brownie tart, apple pie and a sticky toffee cake. Bryant Park Grill will be open 12pm-9pm.Reservations are strongly recommended. Bagatelle (1 Little West 12th Street)

REBagatelle's Dining RoomBagatelle in the Meatpacking District will be open for brunch from 11:30 AM to 5PM. Chef Nicolas Frezal has created a French-inspired menu that includes foie gras served with Champagne jelly, pan seared scallops with black truffle and porcini risotto, and for dessert a Mont Blanc with chestnuts, orange and bergamot, among other items.  For more information or to make reservations go bagatellenyc.com.

This new restaurant and lounge on the Lower East Side will be open from 4 PM on Christmas Day. Delilah consulting mixologist Rael Petit created a special Christmas dessert cocktail to make the holidays very bright using Absolut Elyx vodka, Singani 63, homemade ginger syrup, lime juice and allspice dram. all in crushed ice with a dust of cinnamon/cloves powder and garnished with a gingerbread man. There will also be a range of small savory bites including baby lamb chops, filet mignon skewers and herb goat cheese stuffed mushrooms

Robert (2 Columbus Circle)

Craving an artsy scene this Christmas? Head to Robert where you can dine atop the Museum of Arts and Design. Listen to live music and enjoy the day while taking in views of Central Park and Broadway. Sample menu (three courses, prix fixe) items include lobster and scallops risotto or such classics as chicken fricassee and filet mignon Sweet tooth alert: There’s melt in your mouth tangerine chocolate mousse and sweet lemon meringue bar well worth the calorie splurge. If you want a literary flavor to your holiday dining experience head to The Writing Room. It has a classic literary setting with a cozy fireplace, novel-lined bookshelves, and sleek wood accents.  Brunch specials start at noon and the regular menu will be served all day. Menu highlights incude parmesan herb crusted halibut in a truffled vinaigrette and Australiam lamb chops with potato gratin. The Writing Room will be open from 11am-10:30pm on Christmas Day.
