Honoree Charlize Theron Shines in Harry Winston at amfAR Gala

Oscar winner Charlize Theron was celebrated for her philanthropy work at amfAR’s star-studded Inspiration Gala Los Angeles, a fundraising event to benefit the organization’s research programs and platforms for raising awareness of HIV/AIDS.

Theron, the founder of the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, which supports African youth in the fight against HIV/AIDS, was presented with her award by Chelsea Handler. will present to Honoree Charlize Theron, who founded the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project in 2007 to support African youth in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Dreamworks chief Jeffrey Katzenberg was also honored at the gala; he was recognized for his work on behalf of AIDS Project Los Angeles, an organization that serves more than 11,000 individuals with HIV/AIDS care and prevention programs and lobbies for effective public policies, and was presented with his award by Barry Diller.

In addition to their amfAR awards, Theron and Katzenberg were each presented with the Harry Winston Countdown to a Cure Timepiece, a limited-edition collection of 20 men’s and 20 women’s models, designed in honor of the second year of partnership between Harry Winston and amfAR.  Retailing for $21,200 for the men’s timepiece, and $16,200 for the women’s, the Countdown to a Cure Timepiece is sold exclusively at Harry Winston salons worldwide, with 20% of the retail sales price from each limited-edition timepiece benefitting amfAR’s efforts to develop the scientific basis of a cure for HIV by 2020.

For the evening’s live auction, the luxe jewelry company donated a pair of its Open Belle Diamond Drop Earrings – set with 124 round brilliant diamonds – which were modeled by Angela Lindvall, raising $40,000 for AIDS research.

Additional guests at the fete, which was held at Milk Studios, included Lea Michele (who wore more than 180 carats of diamonds!), Victoria Justice, Jon Hamm, Heidi Klum, David Foster, Paris Hilton and Kelsey Grammer.
