Accessories designer Clare Vivier, who also happens to be a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), has opened her first Orange County boutique at Lido Marina Village in Newport Beach. The new space features her signature collection of totes, clutches, and sacs with the line’s unique blend of classic shapes, modern detail and Parisian charm. The store will also offer shoppers a seasonal range of accessories, ranging from travel to men’s, and a curated selection of CV favorites, including sandals and sunglasses. Here, Vivier invites us into her new 582 square foot Kate McCollough-designed space (who also designed Vivier’s Brooklyn and West Hollywood shops) and chats about what you should expect from her first Orange County effort and why she recently partnered with fashion designer Jenni Kayne on a dual store opening party.

Why did you wanted to open the store in Lido?

Stenn Parton of DJM Capital is a friend of mine and he was the first person to speak to me about it. Because I trust him and his taste level, when he asked me to come see the property – still very much under construction – I immediately said, sure. After seeing Lido’s location, on the beautiful Marina, and hearing the other tenants he was trying to get, I was sold.

What are elements of the store that stand out or were important to you?

The large windows letting natural light in, the blue and white tile floor (same as our West Hollywood store), the open shelving, the French touches throughout – all of this beautifully frames our bags, accessories and tees. It’s about the whole vibe of the place, not just one element. And also, having wonderful staff at the store who inform our customers and embody the brand – that’s always of utmost importance at our shops.

What about the event and working with Jenni was appealing to you?

I love Jenni’s aesthetic and sensibility, but more than anything, she’s a friend and contemporary – a young burgeoning business owner and I think our brands complement one another well. I was excited to finally be neighbors, so it made perfect sense to have an opening party with one another.
