The Rosewood Sand Hill is already a hang out haute spot for Silicon Valley insiders and now the hotel is setting itself up to become the premier event space in the region. Last week they announced the launch of a new partnership with celebrity party planner and lifestyle expert, Colin Cowie. The event studio by Colin Cowie is a luxe curated display of the leading purveyors of floral decoration, cutlery, linens, and chinaware—such as Wildflower Linens and Napa Valley Linens—all hand selected by Cowie. “It’s a divine little studio that we have built. I think it’s extremely chic and elegant,” Cowie told Haute Living. “When you’re designing a party, it doesn’t matter whether it’s a launch of a product or someone’s fiftieth birthday, wedding, anniversary, or bar mitzvah. Each one of those things has its unique DNA. When you come to the studio with your DNA, we add to the senses: what you smell, touch, taste, see, and hear. That’s why we’re able to actually build a beautiful party from the ground up for you.”

Think of the experience like you would one with an interior designer. You check out their showroom and work with them to create a uniquely designed room—however in the case of Cowie, it’s not a room you’re creating, it’s a party. Those looking to throw the wedding or launch of the year can choose from a variety of options to plan their event. The Rosewood Sand Hill has 16,874 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space including an elegant ballroom, private boardrooms, and the intimate dining rooms at the resort’s restaurant, Madera. There are beautiful outdoor gardens and Cowie believes that hosting an event at the Rosewood is “a great opportunity toward being a big dose of style, fashion, and glamour to this studio that we’ve created.”

18 months ago Sharon Cabral, a friend of Cowie’s and the Director of Sales and Marketing at the Rosewood, threw a luncheon for the dapper South African in honor of his latest book. “We had a great time and we said, ‘Let’s do something together.’ Anyway, we had an 18 month engagement and, yesterday, we finally got married in the open outdoors,” Cowie explains how the relationship came to be. Cowie specializes in throwing memorable and grand celebrations for people who are looking for more than just a party. Cowie and his event studio will ensure that your event is an experience to be talked about because his team thinks of each soirée as an opportunity to delight and comfort guests. “Every time we do an event, we put in an amazing array of amenities in the men’s powder room, supposing men still use a powder room. I mean in the ladies’ powder room and the men’s bathroom. If we’re dining outdoors and it’s very hot, we’ll have misters, we’ll have fans, we’ll have umbrellas, we’ll have dark glasses, we’ll have a sunscreen station set up. Similarly, if it’s very cool, we’ll have pashminas, we’ll have throws, we’ll have heaters, beautiful fires. I think it’s all about playing to the senses,” Cowie says. Rosewood Sand Hill’s event studio is all about just that—inspiring guests to customize events according to the five senses—scent, taste, sound, sight, and touch.
