It goes without saying that when you’re a massive luxury brand like LVMH, you’re going to want to bring in the big guns for special projects. That’s exactly what the French multinational luxury goods conglomerate did to promote its high-end champagne house Dom Pérignon when they hired Oscar winner Christoph Waltz to star in the brand’s very first film.

The stunning black and white ad film is shot by famous portrait photographer Billy Kidd to promote Dom Pérignon P2, the libation the brand refers to as “the ultimate Dom Pérignon.”

In the clip, Waltz, who won the 2009 Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his work in Quentin Tarantino’sInglorious Basterds as well as the 2012 Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for Tarantino’sDjango Unchained, in addition to several other significant accolades, makes rapturous faces as he sips the bubbly while Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” plays prominently in the background. His facial expressions are meant to precisely translate the emotional sensations triggered by an encounter with the champagne. His expressions are described by the brand as “the suspended moment of someone in the midst of fully savoring an experience.”

Entitled “Touched with plenitude,”the campaign seeks to portray, as it says in a release, “the unique moment when the palate discovers the elegant bubbles of Dom Pérignon P2, creating unique emotion.”

P2 is the result of 16 years of elaboration in the cellars, the time needed for the bubbly to reach its peak of energy, precision and intensity. The champagne is dark and spicy, with hints of mineral and iodine. It was previously called Oenothèque, but the brand opted to change the name of its late-release Champagne to P2 in 2014.
