Intermix Fetes Fillmore Street Boutique With Intimate Dinner

It’s been a busy week for San Francisco’s fashionistas. Last Thursday Pia the Store opened and this week, the style set got together at a dinner to fete the new Fillmore Street Intermix. Like Space NK, the Intermix team waited until they found the ideal location to open up shop. “San Francisco has always been an important market for us,” Intermix’s president, Jyothi Rao told Haute Living. “There is a high level of affluence here and the web business was huge. It was just a matter of scouting the perfect spot.” They found it in Pacific Heights at 2223 Fillmore Street. Each Intermix store, the SF boutique is the brand’s 40th, has a distinct decor and look that is inspired by the city’s vibe. If you’ve shopped at the Intermix in Marin, you’ll immediately notice that the Fillmore Street shop has more of an urban edge. Local designer Kelly Ording covered part of the walls in a graphic chic mural and the open airy space has wooden panel floors and walls.

The store is stocked with everything a stylish San Franciscan would need in her closet. Going out tops by Jonathan Simkhai, cocktail dresses by A.L.C., L’Agence denim, Iro leather moto jackets, and pointy-toed pumps by Aquazzura. Plus there are plenty of layering items—necessary for SF’s finicky climate—like oversized ponchos, cozy knit sweaters, and Veronica Beard’s signature blazers with various dickey inserts. According to Rao, the trends we should be embracing this fall are as follows: “the era of decadence,” she says. “A mixture of textures—leather and velvet, romantic blouses, and exaggerated sleeve details. Menswear inspired clothing, but with feminine silouettes and girlie details is another trend Intermix is loving. The final is the 90s revisited. Plaid dresses, distressed denim, and little sweaters.”

Katie Traina hosted the dinner in her home and the sumptuous menu included caviar, fish, and melon salad. Guests included the most fashionable woman in SF: Emily Holt, Mary Gonsalves Kinney, and Sonya Molodetskaya. Plus our favorite PR maven, Allison Speer, restauranteur Anna Weinberg, and socialite Vanessa Getty.
