Taking place at the J.W. Marriott at L.A. Live Los Angeles, the evening, which was presented by Delta Airlines, celebrated survivor hope, support and perseverance. Following the pink-themed cocktail reception, Rita Wilson and Co-Founders of BCRF’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund Jamie Tisch, Kelly Meyer, Quinn Ezralow and Marion Laurie kicked off the gala dinner with a number of celebratory speeches about the strength and power of the survivors. BCRF CEO Myra Biblowit then lead a toast and welcomed Delta’s Ranjan Goswami and world renowned Cancer researcher Dr. Sofia Merajver to the stage, where the two discussed her breast cancer treatment breakthroughs. To wrap up the evening’s events, Wanda Sykes had the room in stitches with a rocking forty minute performance, teasing her upcoming comedy special.

Earlier that day, many of the breast cancer survivors in attendance at the event, flew from New York’s JFK Airport to LAX aboard Delta’s iconic pink Boeing 767 aircraft. In its 12thyear, the flight celebrated and honored Delta flight attendants, pilots and other employees who have battled breast cancer and kicked off the airline’s month-long campaign to generate awareness and raise funds for BCRF.

Delta isn’t a random sponsor of the event: its employees, customers and their friends and families have raised $11 million for BCRF since 2005, including last year’s efforts of $1.75 million. The collective contributions have funded the vital work of 44 different research projects over the years in the pursuit of eradicating breast cancer. To further raise awareness and support for breast cancer research, Delta employees will wear pink uniforms and sell pink products, including pink lemonade and pink headsets, on board and in Delta Sky Clubs throughout the month of October.
