Friday kicks off the start of Boston Fashion Week where you can check out exclusive fashion shows, attend gala benefits and preview some of the season’s best new styles.  This year’s events feature local designers like Denise Hajjar and a fashion show with French designer Anne Fontaine. Here’s a look at five events that are worth checking out during Fashion Week.

1 Boston Fashion Week Opening Night

On Friday, September 23, the city kicks off Fashion Week with a host of events starting at 7 p.m. Enjoy cocktails and a presentation by fashion illustrator Holly Nichols, who will sketch live and discuss her artistic style. Fashion designer Denise Hajjar collaborates with stylist Terri Mahn of thestylistcloset with hair and makeup by GlamToGo. Denise Hajjar fashion gallery will be open throughout the duration of the event along with pop-up shopping of Holly Nichols illustrations, Denise Hajjar Boutique accessories, Kent Stetson handbags and "Ask the Experts" of Dependable Cleaners from 7 to 10pm.

2 A Maven’s World with Celebrity Guest Eva Marcille

Also being held Friday night, you have the exclusive opportunity to join A Maven's World Lifestyle Brand with Eva Marcille (actress, host and fashion model) for a VIP Meet & Greet with Eva, runway show, and trunk show. 3 The Haute House University - Business of Fashion 1 Day Workshop

On Sunday, September 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., head over to The Shops at Prudential for The Business of Fashion’s Microsoft-hosted workshop, an intensive workshop for fashion industry game changers. The workshop is a hands-on experience that introduces and develops critical concepts about specific aspects of fashion and business. The program’s focus is on minimizing the risk fashion start-ups face while providing fashion entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge they need to accelerate their brand. They will teach business strategy, marketing, styling, finance, conscious design, and manufacturing. The day will also feature an interactive style analysis competitive project.

4 Couture Thinking

Boston Fashion Week
On Monday, September 26, head over to the W Hotel where you can check out couture creations that will make their Boston debut on live models installed in the windows of the W Boston Hotel Lounge (after being featured at the Moda-Couture Olympic Circus Fashion Show in Brazil). This is your chance to meet the designers and see these hybrids of fashion, art and technology. Laura McCarthy and Harry Umen will present a set of looks that incorporate dye-sublimation printing, laser cutting, 3D printing, and newly developed graphics software specifically tailored for rapid prototyping of apparel.

5 FW16 Fashion Show with French Designer Anne Fontaine

On Thursday, September 29 at 6 p.m., you can enjoy an evening of fashion, champagne and styling tips from French designer Anne Fontaine. Here, you will be treated to an exclusive showing of the new Fall-Winter 2016 Collection at The Four Seasons Hotel to benefit the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, New England Chapter. There will be a pre-show cocktail/hors d’oeuvres reception, followed by a formal Fall-Winter 2016 Fashion Show, featuring Anne Fontaine. Following the show, guests are invited to a meet and greet hosted by the designer herself at the ANNE FONTAINE Boutique at 280 Boylston Street.
