Designer, entrepreneur, and sustainability advocate Yves Behar has announced a new forward-thinking workspace project, Canopy. What makes Canopy different from the many joint workspace ventures that already exist is its location: Canopy will be in Pacific Heights. Most communal workspace in San Francisco, such as Zack Bogue’s Founder’s Den, where the Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom has an office, are located downtown or in SOMA. The first Canopy, which is set to open in September, will be at 2193 Fillmore Street near Sacramento Street in the heart of an upscale residential neighborhood.

Behar developed the idea of the luxury office space with partners Amir Mortazavi and Steve Mohebi. Unlike some modern communal workspaces, Canopy will be a sophisticated environment void of distractions and unnecessary activity options like ping pong tables. “Canopy was born from a desire to have a place near our homes where we could work and be inspired,” Behar said in a statement. “Our goal is to bring great people together in a mature work environment that stimulates great ideas that design can amplify.  Rather than focusing on fun and entertainment, Canopy will provide a striking workspace that balances open plan and private spaces. There are no foosball tables here.”

There are three membership options, ranging from a a shared table to a private office—all with an elevated design aesthetic with furnishings from Herman Miller.  Canopy has a concierge-style amenities program that includes conference rooms, private phone booths, expert tech support, and secure internet. The office space also has a fully stocked kitchen with Sight Glass coffee, cold pressed juice, Pique tea, fresh sparkling tap water, and food from nearby Jane cafe.
