In the heart of downtown Los Angeles, Houston-based developer Hanover has recently unveiled a collection of 20 “eco-green” apartments within its new development, a stunning seven-story, 263-unit building on S. Olive.
According to Curbed, The Hanover Olympic building, which is being designed by TCA Architects, is being billed as Los Angeles’ first solar powered net-zero eco apartments. In a creative use of the latest eco-conscious technology, each of the 20 eco-friendly units in the Hanover Olympic building will be powered by a system of 10 dedicated solar panels situated on the building’s roof. Amazingly, the building’s solar panels absorb enough energy (or kilowatt hours) to power each of the building’s 20 apartments. Even more amazing, the solar panels even collect enough juice that they’re capable of sending energy back to the utility grid.
The environmentally conscious elements of the apartments don’t end there. Each unit will feature reclaimed wood floors, recycled glass countertops, energy performance windows, and more. Energy-tracking iPad Minis will be available in every apartment and give the renter the ability to track their own energy consumption. Each apartment will also feature a smart Nest thermostat, further allowing users to control their energy usage.
Aside from eco-friendly features, the apartments will feature a 24-hour fitness center, a pool, rooftop desks, resident-only wine lockers to store your favorite brew at the optimul temperature, pet grooming stations, private screening rooms, private parking, and of course, what eco-friendly luxury apartment would be complete without bike parking.
Beyond its advancements in eco-friendly technology and exclusive amenities, the Hanover Olympic building is also remarkably close to several downtown L.A. attractions, including the Staples Center.
