Haute Spots Boston: Chefs in Shorts June 24

For nearly two decades, Boston has been hosting an evening where the city’s best chefs come together to cook up some of their best dishes in a summer barbecue. The 19th annual “Chefs in Shorts” al fresco event is being held this year on June 24 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Seaport World Trade Center to benefit Future Chefs, a local nonprofit focused on first careers in the culinary arts.

The foodie lover’s event includes grill-offs, food, wine and beer tastings and guests will be able to vote for their favorite dish. The lavish benefit barbecue that attracts nearly 1,000 guests each year will feature participating chefs like Jonathan Kilroy of Bar Boulud, Adam Kube of Bastille Kitchen and Cory Seeker of TRADE.

The event is one of the best culinary kickoffs to summer. Chefs in Shorts was started in 1998 by a few local chefs looking to celebrate grilling season by cooking outdoors hoping to attract the public to raise awareness of both the newly-opened Seaport Hotel and this ‘new’ area of Boston. Since then, the waterfront area of Boston has become one of the hautest sections of the city with massive development currently underway and Chefs in Shorts has now emerged as one of the city’s most popular culinary events, raising awareness and funds for Future Chefs.

Chefs in Shorts is being held this year at The Seaport World Trade Center on the Upper Viaduct, 200 Seaport Boulevard in Boston.
