The Design District may still be a little quiet at present, but that doesn’t bother developer-creator Craig Robins. Why? Because the district is far from finished. What we see now “doesn’t compare to what you’ll see next year when you’ve got 10 more restaurants, yoga, coffee shops, bakeries and these powerful fashion brands opening up,” says Robins. Among those new brands is a flagship store for Gucci, that we can expect to be on the scale of the new Hermes. “Gucci is a big step forward for us in the luxury category,” adds the developer of the new addition.
Gucci President and CEO Marco Bizzarri affirmed that Gucci was a good match for the modern shopping mecca. “Gucci has always represented great design and contemporary lifestyle,” said. “We want to be where collectors, style influencers and cultural creatives come together, and in Miami that’s the Design District.”
A host of exciting new fashion brands have also just been announced. The list includes a flagship for Christian Louboutin, which had a temporary story in the new district’s infancy, minimalist-wunderkind, Alexander Wang, French bathing suit line Eres, Warby Parker eye glasses, UK-based Cos, Maison Margiela’s sub line MM6. Other businesses that are coming and will give the district another kind of foot traffic and character include Ahana Yoga and a new Cuban restaurant called Estefan Kitchen. As you might guess, it is owned by Gloria and Emilio.
The restaurant will focus on traditional, family recipes, presented in a healthier way. “Gloria and I are so proud of Craig having personally witnessed his vision become a reality. We are honored that he invited us to be a part of this growing community to create an exciting new gathering place in one of Miami’s most inspiring neighborhood.”
Aside from the newly announced retailers joining the Miami Design District, there are a host of other stores that we’ve been expecting for awhile. Here’s the list:

The Miami Design District is currently home to more than 60 luxury boutiques and a dozen restaurants occupying approximately 700,000 square-feet of mixed-use commercial space. The next phase of development slated for completion in 2017 will add just over 250,000 square-feet of high-end retail space, a 120-room hotel and a new 900-car parking structure.
