Who said you have to wait until Memorial Day to celebrate a new Hamptons season–we ‘ll raise a glass of bubbly to the East End any time of year! We also love it when pre-season bashes take place in Manhattan–that means one less traffic jam to endure on Route 27.
The American Heart Association recently got a jump on things with a glam kick-off cocktail for its upcoming 20th Annual Heart of the Hamptons Ball–and chose a very convenient location to do the celebrating–on Madison Avenue.
Hosted by the Heart Ball’s co-chairs Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin, Nicole Noonan, Randi Schatz and Tracy Stern, guests included one of the Ball’s honoree’s Jean Shafiroff, Barbara Poliwoda from the American Heart Association, Frederick Anderson, Montgomery Frazier, Lucia Hwong Gordon and R. Couri Hay.
In her remarks to guests Poliwoda said the AHA hoped to raise $600,000 from the cocktail party and upcoming gala, to be held on June 25th in Bridgehampton. Honoree Shafiroff spoke as well, saying how personal experience convinced her to become involved with the AHA. She told of her recently departed father, who “despite having a heart attack at 51 had survived until 94 in part due to good heart health.” She encouraged everyone “to support the AHA in their good work.”
Additional guests included Paola Bacchini, Amy Brown, Suzette Charles, Dr. Charles Clauss, Shauna Duffin, Joycelyn Engle, Constantine George, Tomas Hill, Kathleen Giordano, Chiu-Ti Jansen, Roy Kean, Karen Klopp, Toula Livanos, Pamela Morgan, Julianne Michelle, Ben Mindich, Adele Nino, Henry De La Paz, Rosemary Ponzo, Anna Rhodes, Alisa Roever, Dr. Gary Ruth, Pamela Roth, Tyler Schaeffer, Renee and Richard Steinberg, Lori Snyder, Lana Smith, Jonathan Valdez, and Andrea Warshaw Wernick.
This year’s ball wall will also honor Dr. Frank Spencer, MD, Professor of Surgery, NYU Langone Medical Center, with the Distinguished Service Award. Philanthropist Shafiroff will receive the Humanitarian with Heart Award.
