See Gumball 3000 Rev Through London’s Regent Street

While we’ve already written about the infamous super-car culture in London, the Gumball 3000 brings it to a whole new level. The week-long race over five countries recently passed through London’s Regent Street for what turned out to be quite the ordeal. Thousands of motor enthusiasts lined the street to admire and cheer for the 2016 Gumball 3000 racers.

This year, 120 over-the-top vehicles of all different varieties are participating in the rally. The 2016 course will lead the star-studded race from Dublin to Bucharest for an impressive 3,000-mile journey. The stops include Dublin, Belfast, Edinburgh, Manchester, London, Luxembourg, Europa-Park, Bodensee, Prague, Hungaroring, Budapest, Sibiu and finally Bucharest. Each destination will be checked off with celebrity filled celebrations. In this race itself you can find notables such as David Hasselhoff, former F1 driver David Coulthard and boxer David Haye. We can only image which celebs will join them off the road.

The Gumball 3000 was founded in 1999 by British entrepreneur Maximillion Cooper. The Entertainment Group encompasses a lifestyle that combines automobiles, art, and popular culture. The annual race continues to grow into new facets of entertainment. It is now comprised of music concerts, action sports and live events. Beyond the internationally acclaimed race, the Gumball 3000 brand and licensed product now retail in over 3,000 stores across 30 countries, and produces television and online content that reaches over 100 million households in 60 countries.

The Gumball 3000 corporation has even extended its reach into philanthropy. According to their site “Every year the Gumball 3000 gives the teams an opportunity to start further up the grid than everyone else. To do this they must raise as much money for the Gumball 3000 Foundation as possible. The team with the most cash raised will be the first car under the start flag in Dublin.” This means that any team who donates the most to one of the Gumball 3000 Foundation beneficiaries, which include organizations like The Tony Hawk Foundation, When You Wish Upon A Star, The Sir Simon Milton Foundation, they have a better chance at winning the race! Pretty smart if you ask us!
