Haute Spots Boston: Worden Hall

With an impressive craft beverage program, Worden Hall is making a name for itself in South Boston. The name gives a nod to a 19th century guest house in Saratoga Springs, New York. Today, this inviting neighborhood restaurant is located in one of the hottest sections of Boston serving up hearty dishes like curry spiced smoked lamb ribs, lemongrass and ginger chicken satay, slow roasted all natural chicken and seared scallops with brown butter vinaigrette.

Try a local brew from one of 40 on tap or another 60 available in bottles like the lemon blueberry pale ale from Woodstock Brewery in New Hampshire or a West Coast style IPA from Lagunitas Brewing Company. The interior of the restaurant has a modern look with dark wood tables, exposed duct work, brick walls, wrought iron chandeliers and a spanning mural of the Saratoga race track in the main dining room.

For dinner, we recommend getting started with an order of vinegary North Carolina chicken wings served with buttermilk ranch or the bourbon hoisin steamed pork buns with pickled vegetables. For main events, try the house smoked ham and brie panini with arugula and peach butter or the delicious roasted beef shoulder with potato rosti, horseradish crema, grilled broccolini, red wine jus, maitake and king oyster mushrooms. For more casual fare, order up one of their popular deep dish pizzas for the table (margherita; squash and wild mushroom, or our favorite, soppressata and garlic with sautéed broccoli rabe, whole milk mozzarella and provolone with rustico tomato sauce).

If you can save room for dessert, the double chocolate stout cake with single malt ganache, Irish butter cream, toffee and walnut praline is a must. Worden Hall is located at 22 West Broadway in South Boston.
