You know you’ll want to invite some pretty special guests to join you in celebrating the biggest fashion event of the year (particularly when a table at the gala can cost up to $250,000)!
Which is exactly what Tommy HIlfiger did on Monday evening with a dream team of dinner companions that included: his brand ambassador Gigi Hadid; model Hailey Baldwin; actress and model Uma Thurman; actor, comedian and author Aziz Ansari; Welsh actor and singer Luke Evans, his wife Dee Oclempo Hilfiger—all wearing Tommy Hilfiger, natch!
So who wore what?
Hadid turned out in a custom gown with embellished corset and high-waist briefs covered in metallic micro beads topped by a sheer silk georgette skirt in pewter and steel tones.
Baldwin opted for a custom body-con black and pewter sequined dress with vertical stripes, low plunging back and side slit. Uma Thurman’s custom ivory crepe dress, also with a low plunging back and strap details, became an instant classic.
As for the men, it was all about midnight blue, for their tuxedoes, that is: both Aziz Ansari and Luke Evans wore inky toned, two-button, single-breasted notch lapel jackets which they paired with white French cuff tuxedo shirts and silk bow ties.
The Hilfigers looked pretty smashing themselves—Tommy in an ivory gabardine single-breasted tuxedo jacket with peak lapels and a black silk faille cuff which he paired with black tuxedo pants. Dee Hilfiger donned a custom black silk organza gown that very much kept to the evening’s theme of the hand-made versus the hi-tech. The dress had a spray of computer-simulated silver embroideries that were crafted from laser-cut industrial metals, mirror shards and mini cogs.
Gigi Hadid took over the Tommy Hilfiger Snapchat channel, sharing a behind-the-scenes look at her Met Gala prep, red carpet moments, and after-party celebrations. Dubbed one of the world’s first “social supermodels,” Hadid has been credited with reinventing the role for millennial culture. She connects with over 17 million followers on Instagram alone.
