Every Spring the who’s who of the art world gathers in New York City for yet another haute fair. For these aficionados, the rest of the city freezes in time for Frieze Art Fair. The international event seldom stays within it’s own bounds, and it’s effect can be felt in venues throughout the five boroughs. Restaurants, hotels, galleries and more curate special programming to coincide with Frieze. Our favorite this year is the POP UP exhibition at the Upper East Side, Relais & Châteaux hotel The Surrey from May 4 through August 31.

To celebrate the 5th year of the high-profile event, Frieze has partnered with The Surrey as the only official VIP hotel partner to launch an ArtSpeak exhibition curated by Natasha Schlesinger, Art Expert in Residence for the luxe hotel and founder of Art Muse. The exhibit’s theme, Cultural Influences of Media, intends to explore the use of language and symbols in art to comment on culture, society, and personal reflections.

The Surrey is commonly regarded as New York’s most prestigious art hotel. This year, the luxurious venue will launch ArtSpeak with an activation in the grand lobby and public spaces with pop up art installations by nine emerging and well-known artists. Together they will present a cohesive, curated exhibit that will be fully open to the public. Artists represented include Ryan McGinnessFaileDesire Obtain CherishAnnabel DaouLeila Pazooki and Nicky Broekhyusen, among others.

These incredible installations will be unveiled at the same time as an exclusive rooftop multi-media installation by Peter D Gerakaris called Floating Garden.
