In just a few days the Dallas Art Fair will return for its eighth consecutive year. From Friday, April 15 through Sunday, April 17 2016, prominent galleries and art dealers from around the world will come to exhibit paintings, sculptures, photography and many other genres of modern and contemporary art. Located at Fashion Industry Gallery, in the center of Dallas’ Art District, the fair traditionally runs over a period of three consecutive days and has become a notable cultural event for the city. The increased participation of galleries from all over the globe have confirmed the growing interest in Dallas as a cultural destination and the various programming surrounding the event has successfully managed to create an atmosphere of excitement that has captured the interests of artists seeking opportunities to exhibit internationally. With so many events taking place during the fair as well as the the days leading up to it, Haute Living came up with a list of 5 events not to miss out on during the Dallas Art Fair.

1 MTV RE:DEFINE GALA DINNER AND AUCTION

For the fifth year MTV RE:DEFINE returns bringing specially commissioned artworks by emerging talents for exhibition and auction benefitting MTV Staying Alive Foundation and Dallas Contemporary. MTV Staying Alive Foundation is a global charity dedicated to increasing the awareness and the prevention of the spread of HIV. Dallas Contemporary is a non-collecting museum and not-for-profit charity that is committed to providing educational exhibits and lectures to the community. This year, British singer Leona Lewis will headline the gala on Friday, April 8, 2016, from 7:00 pm- 12:00 am. Tickets are still available and can be purchased online.

2 THE POWER STATION EXHIBITION OPENING: KARL HOLMQVIST

On Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 5:00 pm- 6:00 pm, The Power Station will exhibit Swedish artist, Karl Holmqvist's latest series of works entitled TUFF LOVE. The exhibition will include large scale sculptures, live performance, short film and an artist's book containing 192 handwritten drawing that repeat the title of the installation. The massive sculptures will form square shaped structures that consists of of a series of four-letter words and to create a segue and highlight the industrial setting of the venue, Holmqvist will perform with New York electric music composer and performer, Stefan Tcherepnin. In addition to the book, sculptures and live performance, a short film documenting the process of creating the sculptures will be shown.

3 TEXAS TOUR OF THE DALLAS COWBOYS ART COLLECTOIN AT THE AT&T STADIUM

With the help of some of the most renown curators and art advisors, Gene and Jerry Jones, owners of the Dallas Cowboys, have assembled a museum quality collection of contemporary art that is displayed at AT&T Stadium. The collections consist of 58 works of art from established and emerging artists from around the globe and during the Dallas Art Fair, on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 10:00 am- 11:00 am, patrons will be able to tour all of the pieces that are part of this incredible collection.

4 DALLAS CONTEMPORARY MEMBERS OPENING CELEBRATION: DAN COLEN, HELMUT LANG AND PAOLA PIVI

On Friday, April 15, 2016 from 7:00 pm- 10:00pm, Dallas Contemporary will highlight works of art from 3 prominent artists; Dan Colen, Helmut Lang and Paola Pivi. For contemporary artist, Dan Colen, it will be the artist's very first large-scale exhibition in North America. Colen's exhibition curated by Peter Doroshenko, will focus on his candlestick paintings and some of his newest billboard sized works. Also under the direction of Doroshenko, Helmut Lang will present his exhibition of sculptures that are characterized by his use of mixed media of various textures and materials. For whimsical Italian artist Paola Pivi, this will be her first museum solo in the Unites States. Her exhibit curated by, Justine Ludwig, will be composed of bold colorful, fantasy with her iconic, feathered bears at its focal point.

5 THE EYE BALL IN CELEBRATION OF THE DALLAS ART FAIR

Taking place in the heart of downtown Dallas this event celebrates the culmination of the Dallas Art Fair and its amazing exhibits. One of the more distinctive locations in the city, the "EYE BALL" is an iconic sculpture located directly across from the swanky Joule Hotel and creates the perfect venue for the party. This festive event complete with craft cocktails and creative hors d'oeuvres, takes place on Saturday, April 16, 2016, from 7:00 pm- 10:00 pm. It's certain to be a night full of excitement and fun, full of all the artistic elements that make the perfect ending to Dallas' most "artistic" week. Space is limited so act fast!
