Haute Living Los Angeles cover star Eli Broad was named one of TIME’s most influential people of 2016. Former New York Mayor and Haute 100 lister Michael Bloomberg authored a tribute to Broad for his accomplishments in business and philanthropy.

Bloomberg noted Broad founded two Fortune 500 companies—KB Home and SunAmerica—and has worked to improve public schools, advance scientific and medical research, and “helped spur an artistic renaissance in Los Angeles.”

“It’s hard to say whether Eli has done more good for the world through his work in business or philanthropy—and that’s saying an awful lot about both,” Bloomberg wrote.

The full list and related tributes is online and will appear in the May 2 issue of TIME, available on newsstands Today, Friday, April 22.

Additionally, earlier this week Edythe Broad was named to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, which recognizes the world’s most accomplished scholars, scientists, writers, artists, philanthropists, civic and business leaders. Eli Broad was inducted into the academy in 2001.
