Design Days: Comptoir 102’s Celebration of Light Is A Must-See

Dubai-based Comptoir 102, Amsterdam-based Frame and Paris-based Eyes on Talents have joined forces to promote a premier level of design excellence through an exhibition of curated design works for Design Days Dubai. The partnership has unveiled these select works under one theme, the celebration of light.

The exhibition features the exclusive works of the three emerging designers,Teresa van Dongen, Elise Fouin and Philip Weber, during Design Days Dubai and will take place at Comptoir 102 from March 13-31, 2016.

The designs by these talented individuals provide a breathtaking exhibit brimming with lighting options that are certain to inspire the hautest of clients and customers. It is an exhibit not to be missed.

“Lumi” is a lamp designed by Teresa van Dongen to capture the contradictory traits of water and light in a drop of glass.

Teresa van Dongen is an industrial designer who graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven cum Laude. Fascinated by light, she first won the Eyes on Talents Award at D’Days 2015 for her project titled, “One Luminous Dot”, a striking bioluminescent, sustainable light installation exhibited by Eyes on Talents at the prestigious Musée des Arts Decoratifs in Paris.

Teresa van Dongen was the recipient of aDutch Design Award in the category Young Designer for her projects: Lumist, Ambio and One Luminous Dot, all capturing the marvels of light during the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven.

“Papillon” is a stunning series of poetic suspensions of light by designer Elise Fouin.

A series of poetic suspensions of light, “Papillon” describes an enchanting interpretation of nature with an array of light by graduate of Ecole Boulle in Paris, Elise Fouin. Fouin integrates a rare artistic touch of both sensitive and poetic to design pieces of lighting. A finalist of the Grand Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris 2012, Elise has won numerous design awards related to her works celebrating nature and light, including the Face of Design price 2009 in Berlin.

Philip Weber’s work, “On Colors,” is a tribute to innovation with a glassblowing tool that enables the craftsman to shape a variety of inner cavities in the glass, creating multiple light and color refractions. Philipp Weber is a German designer and a 2012 graduate of the Design Academy in Eindhoven. He is also the winner of the 2013 DMY Award at the International Design Festival Berlin. Exploring light through the reinterpretation of glass blowing, his works reflect the combination of unique craftsmanship and design excellence.


 

Now in its fifth year, Design Days Dubai (March 14-18, 2016) is the Middle East and South Asia’s only collectible design fair, presenting over 250 limited edition modern and contemporary design pieces from 40 of the world’s established and emerging galleries and design talent, alongside a public program of special projects, talks, workshops and guided tours.
