One of the hautest spring foodie events returns to Boston next week with Dine Out being held for two weeks (excluding the weekend) from March 6-11 and 13-18. Formerly known as Restaurant Week, the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau hosts the two-week celebration that gives diners the opportunity to sample specialty prix fixe lunch and dinner menus.

This might be your best excuse to try that hot tapas restaurant or romantic French bistro you have been wanting to check out. Because this is one of the hautest events in town, reservations are strongly recommended by calling the participating restaurant directly. Here’s a look at five haute participating restaurants.


1 Lucca Back Bay

Lucca offers some of the best Italian food in Back Bay, thanks to Chef Anthony Mazzotta, whose resume includes stints at The French Laundry and Per Se. Dishes on the traditional dinner menu here include everything from savory meatballs, fettucine with truffles and gnocchi with lobster to their signature rigatoni Bolognese made with a delicious beef, pork and veal ragu. 2 ArtBar Cambridge

With the weather projected to near 70 degrees next week, there is going to be no better place to celebrate than near the water. Head to ArtBar Cambridge where food meets art at this hip restaurant that has one of the hautest patio scenes across the bridge. Participating dinner entrees for the Dine Out include grilled salmon, seared scallops, a New York strip and lobster roll along with a flourless truffle mousse torte for dessert.

3 Blue Dragon

Chef/owner Ming Tsai knows what Bostonians love and serves it up in style at his latest venture, Blue Dragon, over in the Fort Point Channel. His Dine Out dinner menu is no exception with starters like soy pickled deviled eggs, Carolina BBQ pork pot stickers and shrimp shumai. Main events include garlic-sake clams with udon noodles, tamarind-glazed lamb lollipops and duck tostadas with pineapple salsa.

4 Boston Chops

Steak lovers unite at Boston Chops in the South End for dinner where chef/owner Chris Coombs has created a specialty three-course menu that includes crispy oxtail croquettes, a sampling of local oysters or a simple Caesar salad to start. From there, move onto a cast iron roasted New York strip, grilled prime hanger or skirt steak. You can even add on a half pound local lobster for a memorable surf and turf dinner. Finish it off with some creamy vanilla bean crème brulee or sticky toffee pudding.

Dining in in a former prison cell never tasted so good than it does at CLINK located inside The Liberty Hotel, the site of the former Charles Street Jail. The restaurant pays homage to its storied history with its brick walls and black wrought iron bars. They will be celebrating Dine Out with both prix fixe lunch and dinner menus. Dinner includes a starter of bruschetta, grilled romaine or cauliflower soup and entrees feature fried catfish, boar rigatoni and Bavette steak. Save room for a sweet potato donut, coconut ice cream affogato or toffee pudding.
