The casual fine dining concept is one that has been embraced by some of the best restaurants in Las Vegas over the last few years. Honey Salt, which resides in nearby Summerlin just off the Strip, has won raves for re-imagining home-style comfort food as gourmet dishes.
Honey Salt comes from the innovative minds of renowned restaurateurs Elizabeth Blau and her chef husband, Kim Canteenwalla. They decided to take a chance that casual fine dining would be embraced in Sin City and so far that gamble has more than paid off, as countless other restaurants in the area have embraced this concept. However, it is certainly one that needs to be done right and Honey Salt have excelled in this area. The atmosphere is upscale and modern, yet maintains plenty of comfort to make you feel right at home. Honey Salt is hip and eclectic, with a wide-open dining room that receives plenty of natural light during the daytime. The decor consists of interior brick walls, chic mirrors, a colorful candy display by the front entrance and a vibrant row of lime green plush seats that line the back of the restaurant.
The lunch and dinner menus are very similar, with some really playful dishes offered. You can also enjoy brunch here on the weekends, as Honey Salt has become a popular destination for doing that among locals. For starters, the seared swordfish tacos are to die for and come topped with roasted tomato salsa, avocado an togarashi. The grilled octopus, turkey meatballs and ahi tuna tartare are all fresh and flavorful appetizers options. For your main course, you can pick from a wide-assortment of first-class dishes like, the mouth-watering grilled Scottish salmon with roasted beets, Swiss chard, freaked and topped with fresh horseradish. The caramelized sea scallops, pan roasted rainbow trout and charred filet mignon are also made to perfection. One of our favorite dishes is without a doubt the herb “gnocchi,” which Honey Salt gives a fun twist to by including kale, a sautéed mushroom medley, with gnocchi stuffed with savory sweet potato puree, pear gremolata and then served with pumpkin seed pesto to make for the perfect winter dish. What’s a little Southern-inspired dining without some decadent desserts? You must try Honey Salt’s famous bread pudding, that comes with a honey bourbon toffee sauce, the brown bag baked apple pie and of course the “brookie.” This sweet dish was inspired by Baked in Brooklyn and combines a massive chocolate chip cookie with a chocolate fudge brownie and served with salted caramel chunk ice cream. It’s absolutely a heavenly way to cap off your dining experience.
When you’re craving some comfort food but still want to indulge in a gourmet Sin City dining experience, head over to Honey Salt. Your taste buds will thank you.
